fonio.ai appoints Alexander Brix as CCO and expands internationally

The company added one million euros in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in March alone

Vienna, April 8, 2026 – The Vienna-based voice AI company fonio.ai is strengthening its leadership team with a prominent serial entrepreneur: Alexander Brix is taking on the role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and will be responsible for sales, partnerships, and account management on an international level, effective immediately. The seasoned entrepreneur and angel investor was already a shareholder in fonio.ai and now brings his extensive expertise in building and scaling tech companies into an operational role.

Brix became known as the former COO of Kaleido AI, the company behind remove.bg. There, he led the development of the business and the go-to-market strategy. Within 24 months, he grew revenue to more than 15 million euros in ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), led the due diligence process for the acquisition by Canva in one of Austria's largest deals, and scaled the team from seven to more than 100 employees.

He subsequently served as Head of Operations Europe at Canva. In this role, he was responsible for European internationalization, integrated several acquisitions, and grew the organization from 40 to around 300 employees.

"fonio.ai is at a defining point in its journey as a company," Alexander Brix says about his appointment. "The company has the right ingredients for scalable growth: a truly unique team and outstanding technology. Daniel didn't need to do any convincing when he offered me the role – being not just an investor but actively shaping the company at this stage was an easy yes."

"With Alexander, we're adding a serial entrepreneur to our management team who brings exactly the experience that will accelerate our growth even further," emphasizes Daniel Keinrath, CEO and co-founder of fonio.ai. "I can't imagine anyone better suited for the role of CCO than Alex."

One of the fastest-growing companies in Austria

fonio.ai has significantly accelerated its growth recently, adding more than one million euros in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in March alone. Compared to March 2025, this represents a twentyfold increase. In January, newly generated ARR was around 600,000 euros, and 750,000 euros in February.

"fonio.ai is probably becoming the fastest-growing company in Austria right now," Keinrath remarks. "This momentum reflects the enormous demand for voice AI solutions, and we have a lot planned for the months ahead," the co-founder adds.

fonio.ai's growth has long been driven by international expansion. After entering the French-speaking markets as well as Italy, Brazil, and Poland, the company is now also planning to launch in the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain, and the Netherlands. The goal is to make AI-based voice agents available as scalable infrastructure for companies worldwide and to establish fonio.ai as the global market leader.

In parallel with internationalization, fonio.ai is significantly expanding its organization: the team has now grown to more than 30 employees, 50 percent of whom are former startup founders. Currently, around 25 positions are open across engineering, marketing, sales, and operations.

fonio.ai develops AI-based voice agents that handle inbound customer calls automatically. The solution is used in particular in customer communications and experience, sales, and service, and is in use with customers including Volkswagen, Brita, and Storebox.
